ASKO lines we see most

Know your ASKO

  • ASKO dishwashers

Built-in 24-inch dishwashers with a stainless tub, in stainless or panel-ready fronts. Many keep the buttons on the top edge of the door, so you open the door to see them. Models with Auto Door Opening push the door ajar at the end of the cycle on purpose; that is not a fault.

  • ASKO front-load washers

Compact 24-inch front-loaders made to stack under an ASKO dryer. The drum sits on four shock absorbers, which ASKO calls Quattro construction. Newer Steel Seal models have no rubber boot around the door opening; older ones do, and a torn boot leaks at the front.

  • ASKO dryers: vented, condenser, heat pump

A vented dryer pushes damp air outside through a duct. A condenser or heat-pump dryer needs no duct: it turns the moisture into water that goes to a tank you empty or down a hose to a drain. Which one you have decides where a drying fault is.

  • Stacked ASKO pairs

The dryer sits on top of the washer on an ASKO stacking kit, often in a closet or a small laundry nook. If the washer needs work from the top or the back, the dryer has to come off first, so tell us the pair is stacked when you book.

What fails

What actually breaks on ASKO appliances

  1. 1

Dishwasher leaves water in the bottom

Start with the coarse and fine filters at the bottom of the tub: packed with food, they hold the water back. A piece of glass or a fruit pit can also jam the drain pump behind them, and a kinked drain hose does the same. If all of that is clear, the drain pump itself is the likely fault. Our dishwasher repair page lists the other causes.

  2. 2

Dishwasher stops, drains nonstop or shows a leak alarm

ASKO dishwashers have a float switch in the base pan. When water reaches the base, the float lifts, the machine shuts off the water and keeps the drain pump running. The water came from somewhere: a door seal, a hose inside the machine, a pump seal, or suds from dish soap meant for washing by hand. The repair is finding that leak and drying the base so the float drops.

  3. 3

Dishes come out cold or wet

If the wash water never gets hot, the heater or the temperature sensor has usually failed, and without heat the dishes stay wet at the end too. Models with Turbo Combi Drying also dry with a fan, so a dead fan leaves them damp after a hot wash. An empty rinse-aid dispenser is worth checking first.

  4. 4

Washer won't drain and the door stays locked

The door will not unlock while water is still in the drum. ASKO puts the drain pump behind a small hatch low on the front, and a sock, coin or hair tie caught there stops the drain. If the pump is clear and the water still will not go, the pump motor or the drain hose is next; if the drum is empty and the door still stays shut, the door lock has failed. More causes are on our washer repair page.

  5. 5

Washer bangs, shakes or roars on spin

With the drum held by four shock absorbers, one worn absorber lets it knock against the cabinet when the spin speeds up. A roar that grows louder with the spin points to the drum bearings. On a newly installed machine, check that the shipping bolts were taken out and the washer stands level.

  6. 6

Dryer runs but the clothes stay damp

On a vented model, a crushed or lint-packed duct keeps the damp air in. On a condenser or heat-pump model, lint that gets past the door filter builds up in the condenser or the heat-pump filter, and the dryer can switch itself off to stop overheating. If the filters are clean and a vented or condenser model still runs cold, the heating element or a thermal fuse is the likely fault. Other reasons a load stays damp are on our dryer repair page.

  7. 7

Dryer keeps asking you to empty the water tank

A condenser or heat-pump dryer pauses when its water tank is full. If it asks with an empty tank, or water shows up on the floor, the small pump that moves the water, its hose, or the part that senses the level has stopped working. A dryer connected to a drain hose shows the same fault when that hose is kinked or blocked.

FAQ

ASKO repair: frequently asked questions

Do you repair ASKO dishwashers, washers and dryers?

Yes, all three. That includes washers and dryers stacked in a closet or standing side by side, and vented, condenser and heat-pump ASKO dryers.

How much does an ASKO repair cost?

Our visit fee is $89. The technician finds exactly what's wrong and gives you the full repair price at your home, with no pressure. If you go ahead, the $89 counts toward the repair. Over the phone we won't put a number on an ASKO repair, because until the fault is found there is no honest number to give.

Is there a warranty on an ASKO repair?

Yes. Every ASKO repair we do carries our 90-day parts-and-labor warranty.

Are you part of ASKO's own service network?

No. FixDaddy is an independent repair company. Our technicians have five to ten years of experience in appliance repair. If your ASKO is still under the manufacturer's warranty, check with ASKO first, because our visit is billed to you, not to ASKO.

Can someone come today to fix my ASKO?

On most days we can. Someone picks up the phone at any hour, 24/7, and books you into a two-hour window, often that same day. What to expect is set out on our same-day appliance repair page.

Can you install a new ASKO dishwasher or stack an ASKO washer and dryer?

Yes. Our appliance installation service covers dishwashers, washers, dryers and stack kits, including putting an ASKO dryer on top of an ASKO washer.
