Miele Appliance Repair in Northern Virginia, DC & Maryland

Miele builds its appliances differently from the American brands, and they fail differently too. A Miele dishwasher has its own water softener, a Miele washer heats its own water, and a Miele dryer has no vent. FixDaddy's Miele appliance repair covers dishwashers, laundry, wall ovens, speed ovens, combi-steam ovens, cooktops, ranges, hoods and MasterCool refrigeration across Northern Virginia, Washington DC and Maryland, on a visit that costs $89 and counts toward the repair.

  • $89 visit, credited to the repair

  • Same-day most days
  • Someone answers 24/7

FixDaddy is an independent repair company. We are not affiliated with, authorized by or endorsed by Miele, which recommends its own authorized service network. If you call us instead, you get our technician, our parts ordering and our 90-day warranty.

Know your Miele

  • G 5000 and G 7000 dishwashers

The current 24-inch machines. G 5000 is the simpler tier; G 7000 adds AutoDos, a PowerDisk of detergent good for about 20 loads, and M Touch or Knock2open on the top models. Both have a built-in water softener with a salt reservoir, a cutlery tray and, on most models, AutoOpen drying. SCU means built-under with front controls; SCVi means panel-ready with the controls on the top edge of the door.

  • Futura dishwashers

The generation before, sold here under names like Futura Dimension and Futura Diamond. Same layout as today: a cutlery tray up top, a salt reservoir for the softener, a filter combination in the sump. Plenty are still running, and Miele's own rule is spare parts for at least 15 years after a series ends.

  • W1 washers and T1 heat-pump dryers

24-inch compact laundry, usually stacked. The W1 washers (WXD160, WXF660, WXI860, WXR860) have the honeycomb drum, a 1,600 rpm spin, their own water heater and CapDos or TwinDos detergent dosing; the WXD160 plugs into a normal 120-volt outlet. The T1 dryers (TXD160, TXI680, TXR860) are ventless heat-pump machines on 120 volts that collect their water in a container or send it down a drain hose.

  • Older W3038-era washers and T8023C condenser dryers

The earlier 24-inch pairs: washers like the W3038 with a 1,300 rpm spin, and condenser dryers like the T8023C that dry without a vent but use a conventional heater instead of a heat pump. Many are still in service, and they share the honeycomb drum with the current machines.

  • H 7000-series ovens and speed ovens

24-inch and 30-inch wall ovens (H 7280 BP, H 7580 BP, H 7880 BP), a 30-inch double (H 7780 BP2) and handleless BPX versions, with a self-clean cycle and a wireless roast probe on the upper models. The BM models such as the H 7240 BM are speed ovens: convection oven and microwave in one box. The earlier M Touch generation, like the H 6880 BP with its MasterChef programs, is still common.

  • DGC combi-steam ovens

Steam plus convection in 24-inch and 30-inch sizes, XL and XXL (DGC 7440, DGC 7580, DGC 7880). Most fill from a water tank; the DirectWater plus models (DGC 7785, DGC 7845, DGC 7865) connect to a water line. A steam generator, a water pump and level sensing are parts a plain oven does not have, and they scale up, which is why Miele sells descaling tablets for them.

  • MasterCool refrigeration

Panel-ready built-in columns in 18, 24, 30 and 36-inch widths: K refrigerators, F freezers, KF bottom-mounts and KWT wine units, plus the newer KFMC 3642 and KFMC 3846 French-door bottom-mounts with an IceMaker and MasterFresh Pro drawers. Miele also sells built-under wine units like the KWT 6322 UG with a compressor and DynaCool humidity control.

What fails

What actually breaks on Miele appliances

  1. 1

Dishwasher stops mid-cycle and reports the Waterproof system

Every Miele dishwasher has a leak sensor in its base pan. A drip from a tired door seal, a loose hose clamp or a cracked sump lands in the pan, the machine pumps out and refuses to fill again. Tipping it back to drain the pan gets you one more cycle at most, because the leak is still there. The fix is the leak itself, then a properly dried pan.

  2. 2

Dishwasher holds water at the end of the cycle

Usually the drain pump, its non-return flap or the filter combination in the sump, packed with glass chips or food. On a call for dishwasher repair in Falls Church, a Miele built-in had stopped cleaning properly and was holding water at the end of the cycle; our technician found faults in both the wash cycle and the drain and repaired the machine. A weak wash and a slow drain often arrive together, so the circulation pump is a suspect too.

  3. 3

Dishes come out spotted, wet or gritty

Three Miele-specific suspects. The built-in softener needs salt in its reservoir; run it empty in this area's water and the heater scales and glasses cloud. The AutoOpen mechanism should pop the door at the end so steam escapes; if it stays shut, everything is wet. And the small top spray arm over the cutlery tray clogs before the big ones, so gritty items on the top level point at that arm, not the pump.

  4. 4

Washer will not drain, will not spin, or walks on the spin

The drain pump on a W1 sits behind the kick panel with a filter in front of it, and coins, hairpins and bra wires end up there. A 1,600 rpm spin is hard on the shock absorbers, so a washer that bangs or moves on spin usually needs those, and if the drum has play the bearings are next. On TwinDos machines, dried detergent in the dosing hose is common enough that Miele sells a cleaner just for it.

  5. 5

Heat-pump dryer runs for hours or asks for its filters

The T1 has two lint filters in the door opening and a plinth filter lower down, in front of the heat exchanger. Skip them and the message to clean the lint and plinth filters comes up, then drying times stretch. Behind that: a full condensate container, a condensate pump that no longer lifts water to the drain hose, or a heat exchanger felted with lint, which is a technician job to open.

  6. 6

Oven trips the breaker on preheat, or loses heat mid-bake

A bake or broil element with a crack in its sheath shorts to ground as it heats, so the breaker trips a minute into preheat. An oven that heats and then drifts cold partway through a bake usually has a failing temperature sensor or a relay on the power board, and a display that goes blank points at the power board or the display module.

  7. 7

    Combi-steam oven makes no steam

A steam oven has a water path a plain oven does not: a tank or a water line, a pump, a steam generator and a level sensor. Scale in the generator is the usual cause, which is why the oven keeps asking you to descale. On one call for oven repair in Great Falls two Miele ovens were down at the same time: a built-in wall oven that would not heat and a steam oven that made no steam.

  8. 8

MasterCool column warms up or the ice maker stops

Tall panel-ready columns carry a heavy door, so a sagging hinge or a gasket that no longer seals lets warm air in and the compressor runs nonstop. Inside, the evaporator fan and the defrost system are the usual electrical failures, and an ice maker that quits is most often its water valve or the maker module. Have the model and serial number from the data plate inside the cabinet ready, because parts are ordered by it.

FAQ

Miele repair: frequently asked questions

Should I call Miele service or an independent company like FixDaddy?

Your choice. Miele recommends its own authorized service providers, and we are not one of them. What we offer is our own technician at your door, most days the same day, with a $89 visit fee that counts toward the repair and a 90-day warranty on every repair. We are insured, Google Guaranteed, and rated 5.0 on Google from over 100 reviews.

Can you get parts for a Miele?

Yes. Miele sells its original parts in the US, and its own rule is at least 15 years of availability after a series ends. Nearly everything is model-specific, so the technician takes the model and serial number from the data plate and orders after the diagnosis. Common parts are on the truck; for the rest, we come back to fit them.

How much does a Miele repair cost?

We do not quote repair prices before the visit, because on a Miele the same symptom can be a clogged filter or a pump. Our visit fee is $89. The technician finds exactly what's wrong and gives you the full repair price at your home — no pressure. If you go ahead, the $89 counts toward the repair.

My Miele dishwasher says the Waterproof system has reacted. Can I dry it out and keep going?

You can tip the machine and drain the base pan, and it may run once. But the sensor tripped because water reached the pan, and the leak is still there, so the next cycle usually trips it again. Have the door seal, the hoses and the sump checked, then the pan dried properly. In most cases that is a one-visit job.

My Miele heat-pump dryer takes two hours. Is it failing?

Check the two lint filters in the door opening and the plinth filter first, and empty the condensate container if your dryer has no drain hose. If drying is still slow, the heat exchanger may be blocked with lint or the condensate pump may be failing, and the technician can test both. A heat-pump dryer runs cooler than a vented one, so a longer cycle on its own is normal.

Do you repair Miele steam ovens and combi-steam ovens?

Yes. A steam oven has a water tank or line, a pump, a steam generator and level sensing that a plain oven does not, and scale is the usual reason it stops making steam. We also repair the wall oven and speed oven that often sit in the same column. Every repair comes with a 90-day parts-and-labor warranty.

Is an older Miele worth fixing?

Often, yes. Miele says it tests its W1 washers and T1 dryers to the equivalent of 20 years of average use, and keeps spare parts for at least 15 years after a series ends, so an older machine is usually still supportable. The technician will tell you plainly if a repair does not make sense, and the $89 visit still buys you a clear diagnosis either way.
