As with all Miele appliance repair, the parts come from Miele: there is almost no generic aftermarket, so the repair uses Miele's own parts, ordered against the model number on the plate at the edge of the door.

Miele USA ships direct from its own parts store, usually within a few days, and the common wear items, the drain pump, the inlet valve and Waterproof hose, the lower door seal, filters, spray arms, basket rollers and the salt reservoir cap, are quick to get. Bigger assemblies, the circulation pump with its heater, the electronics module, or the AutoDos unit on a G 7000, take an order and a return visit; the $89 from the first visit is already credited toward the repair.

The softener. Every Miele has a built-in water softener with a salt reservoir under the lower basket. The water in Northern Virginia and DC is moderately hard to hard, and the softener is rated for far harder water than that, so cloudy glasses or a white film point to the setting or an empty reservoir, not the softener. Only dishwasher salt goes in it; detergent in the salt reservoir damages the softener.

The Waterproof System. The inlet hose carries its own valve at the tap end, and a float switch in the base pan shuts the machine down and runs the drain pump if water collects there. The Waterproof message means it found a leak; it is not the leak itself.

The heater. On most models it sits inside the circulation pump under the tub, not in the tub where you can see it. A heating fault means the machine comes out from under the counter; the fix is the relay, the element or the pump assembly, whichever tests bad.

Fault codes follow the split Miele uses on its own support pages: one list for G 1000 through G 6000, another for the G 5000 and G 7000 built from 2019 on. Older panels flash the Intake/Drain light instead. Whatever yours shows, our technician confirms it with a test, because a code names the circuit, not the part.
