Which LG dryers we work on
DLE is a plain electric vented dryer and DLG is gas. Add an X, DLEX or DLGX, and it is a steam model, which needs its own cold-water line. DLHC is the ventless Dual Inverter heat-pump line in 24-inch and full-size widths. The WashTower is a 4.5 cu. ft. washer and a 7.4 cu. ft. dryer in one body with a single Center Control panel between them.
The weak points follow the type. Vented models live or die by airflow: Flow Sense reads the duct, and most heat calls on them end at a thermal fuse or a lint-packed blower rather than the heater itself. Steam models add an inlet valve that can fail. Gas models add valve coils that weaken with age. The WashTower shares one control system across both halves, so a dryer fault can show up as an LG washer symptom. Heat-pump models have no heater at all; they dry with a compressor and a condenser that must stay clear of lint.
Parts
The parts that fail on LG dryers are a short list and most ride on our truck: the heater assembly (on LG electric models the high-limit thermostat and thermal fuse mount on it), the thermistor, the drive belt, the idler pulley, the set of four drum rollers, the blower wheel, the moisture sensor bars and the door switch. They are stocked by every major parts distributor, so a same-visit fix is usual.
The main control board, a gas valve assembly, the steam inlet valve and anything inside a heat-pump model are ordered by your exact model number from the tag inside the door. We tell you before ordering, the part usually arrives in a few days, and the technician comes back to fit it.

Electric, gas or heat pump: what breaks is different
An electric LG dryer makes heat with a coil on a 240V circuit, so its failures are the heater, the fuse and the thermostat on that assembly, plus the house wiring feeding it. A gas LG dryer runs its controls on a regular 120V outlet and makes heat with an igniter, a gas valve and two coils; the coils and the flame sensor are what age out. A heat-pump LG dryer has neither: it moves heat with a compressor, needs no vent, and its condenser has to stay clear of lint.

LG dryer repair: frequently asked questions
My LG dryer shows d80. Is the dryer broken?
Usually not. d80, d90 and d95 come from LG's Flow Sense system, which reads how restricted your exhaust duct is: 80, 90 or 95 percent blocked. LG says not to run the dryer until the exhaust is cleared, and that is good advice, because a blocked vent is a fire risk. We confirm the reading, clear the dryer's side of the system and show you where the house duct is choked. If the code stays after the vent is clean, the sensor or the board is at fault and we test those.
How much does it cost to repair an LG dryer?

Do you repair the LG WashTower?
Yes, both the electric WKEX200H and the gas WKGX201H. A WashTower is one body with one Center Control panel between the washer and the dryer, not a dryer stacked on a washer, and the two halves share a control system, so a fault on the dryer side can show up on the washer side. Tell us it is a WashTower when you call so the technician brings the right parts.
The dryer gets warm but my clothes are still damp. Do I need a new dryer?
Almost never. Warm air with damp clothes means the air is not leaving: a lint-packed blower wheel, a crushed transition hose or a blocked house vent. Those are cleaning and small-part jobs, not a reason to replace a dryer. We measure the airflow, open the base and clear the blower, and only talk about replacement if the drum, the motor and the board are all in trouble at once, which is rare on an LG.
Is the repair covered if the same problem comes back?
Yes. Every repair we do carries a 90-day parts-and-labor warranty. If the same fault returns inside that window, we come back and put it right under the warranty. The one thing we cannot warranty is a house vent that fills back up with lint, which is why we show you its condition before we leave.

Do you work on LG heat-pump (ventless) dryers?
Yes. The DLHC1455W and DLHC5502W dry with a compressor and a condenser instead of a heater and a vent, so the usual dryer fixes do not apply to them. The faults we see are a condenser clogged with lint, a sensor giving bad readings, and drain problems, since a heat-pump dryer pulls water out of the clothes and has to get rid of it. Give us the model number when you call so the technician arrives ready.
Why does my LG dryer squeal every time it runs?
On an LG that is almost always the idler pulley, the small spring-loaded wheel that keeps tension on the belt. Its bearing wears out, and the squeal gets louder as the dryer warms up. The fix is a new pulley, not grease. If the noise is more of a thump, the drum rollers have worn flat and we replace the set of four.
