Which Samsung washers we work on
Samsung front-loaders carry model numbers starting WF and top-loaders start WA. The current front-load line is Bespoke AI, with the Smart Dial control and OptiWash sensing that adjusts wash time and detergent to the load. Before it came AddWash, with a small second door set into the main door, and the FlexWash, a small top-load tub above a full front-load drum. Top-loaders come with an impeller or the ActiveWave agitator, and newer ones have the Active WaterJet faucet on the tub rim.
Older top-loaders have one thing to check: in November 2016 the CPSC recalled about 2.8 million Samsung top-load washers sold from March 2011 to November 2016 because the top could come loose from the cabinet during a spin. If yours is from those years and bangs hard on spin, check the serial number against that notice first. Everything else, from bearings to boards, is ordinary repair work.
Parts
The Samsung washer parts we replace most are drain pumps, door gaskets, lid lock assemblies, suspension rods, dampers, water inlet valves, hall sensors and main control boards, plus the bearing kit or rear tub half on a front-loader that has started to roar. Samsung is a mainstream brand, so these parts are stocked widely. The common ones ride on the truck, and anything we have to order means the technician comes back to fit it. Every part we fit is covered by the 90-day parts-and-labor warranty. Have the model number from the sticker inside the door or lid ready when you call; it helps us bring the right pump or gasket the first time.
The filter door at the bottom: check it before you call
Samsung front-loaders have a small panel low on the front. Behind it sit the debris filter and a short rubber drain hose with a cap. Samsung says to clean that filter at least once a month or every 40 washes, whichever comes first. Put a towel and a shallow pan down, twist the cap off the little hose and let the water out, then unscrew the filter and pull out whatever is in it. Hair ties, coins and bobby pins are the usual finds.
If the filter was full, that was probably your 5C code and you may be done. If it was clean and the washer still will not drain, the pump or the drain hose is the next suspect, and that is a good time to call. Top-loaders have no filter door; their pump is not something you can reach without tipping the machine, so we handle those.
Mildew smell and a black gasket
A front-loader that smells is usually a gasket problem, not a drain problem. Water sits in the fold of the door seal after every wash, and detergent residue feeds mold there. Samsung built a Self Clean cycle for this. The reminder comes on after 40 washes on a front-loader or 20 on a top-loader, and the cycle takes around four hours on a front-loader and about an hour on a top-loader. Run it, wipe the gasket dry and leave the door ajar between loads.
Once the rubber has gone black and pitted, cleaning does not bring it back and the gasket gets replaced. The new seal goes in with the front panel off, and the drain path gets cleared at the same time, since a gasket that has been wet that long usually comes with a filter that needs emptying too.
Stacked pairs and the FlexWash

Some repairs on a stacked washer mean the dryer comes off first, so plan on a longer visit and clear the closet floor. The FlexWash needs the same care: its top tub has its own fill and drain, and a leak from up there can look like a main-drum leak from the outside. Samsung washer repair: frequently asked questions
My Samsung front-loader shows 5C. Do I need a repair?
Not always. 5C means the washer cannot drain fast enough. Open the small door at the bottom front, drain the little hose into a pan and clean the debris filter. If the filter was packed, run a rinse and spin and you may be done. If it was clean, the pump or the drain hose is the problem and that is a visit.
Why does my Samsung top-loader stop before the spin?
Usually the machine has decided the load is unbalanced and shows UE or Ub. One heavy item is the common cause. If it happens on every load, the suspension rods that hold the tub are worn, or the weight sensing needs Samsung's Calibration run. Our technician checks both and replaces the rods when they are worn.
